History
The man behind Fenton Lakes Building & Design, Scott Tarkleson, has 30 years of experience in the field.

Tarkleson’s construction story started in high school when he picked up his first job. After graduating from Lake Fenton High School in 1975, he headed to Northwestern Michigan University to study fine arts and design. Following college was a weeklong vacation to Utah that lasted 10 years. In Utah he started at the bottom but soon has his own firm. In 1986, after meeting his wife Jonie and the birth of his son, Tarkleson moved back to the Lake Fenton area and has worked construction on his own for the most part, with a few stints as a project manager with larger companies. “I’ve never had any job other than construction,” he said.

With Fenton Lakes Building and Design, Tarkleson takes a hands-on, personal approach to his projects. He works on 2 or 3 projects at a time, and wants customers to be able to deal with him directly, not a salesman.
